STUDENTS HOST A SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRACY DAY
Democracy is a universal value based on the freely expressed will of people to determine their
own political, economic, social and cultural systems and their full participation in all aspects of
life. Our support for International Democracy Day stems from our core belief that democracy requires the participation of all citizens. The occasion of International Day of Democracy holds much importance for the world’s largest democracy, India. The students of Grades 2 and 3 of Presidium Kalyan Vihar marked this day with a special assembly. They prepared an informative skit depicting the lack of democracy rule in various countries and how democracy is important for the growth of a nation and the world as a whole. Young Presidians also presented speeches on the importance of celebrating such a day. The assembly ended with a pledge to uphold the values our Constitution - the written testament of our democratic existence.
ENGINEER'S DAY: PRESIDIANS HONOUR THE CHORES OF ENGINEERS
Engineering is not merely knowing and being knowledgeable; engineering is not merely
analysis; engineering is not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to non existing engineering problems; in fact it is practicing the art of the organized forcing of
technological change. Engineers Day is one of the most significant events that is celebrated to dedicate to all the engineers who changed the whole world with their great ideas and innovations. The day is celebrated to salute the contribution of the engineers towards society.
The students of Grades 1 to 5 from Presidium Kalyan Vihar celebrated Engineers Day as a remarkable tribute to the greatest Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The assembly started with a prayer song sung by a group of children followed by a speech
on “Role of Engineers in developing India”. Children showcased a skit on the stage where they
discussed about the values of engineering and how world cultivated under new innovations
carried by engineers.
PRESIDIANS ADVOCATE ‘EACH ONE TEACH ONE’ ON WORLD LITERACY DAY
Education is an important part of a person’s upbringing. It is preparation for the future and therefore it is important to acquire one before it is too late. It gives people the tools to think logically and reason for themselves. However, the most important facet of education is LITERACY. Literacy is important because communication skills are otherwise limited to speech, technology becomes unusable and it is almost impossible to acquire a job. To highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies, International Literacy Day was celebrated at Presidium, Kalyan Vihar. The assembly kick started with a prayer soulfully sung by our young Presidians. It was followed by an inspirational thought of the day and a speech on the significance of International Literacy Day. Having rousing placards in their hands, voicing vociferous slogans and posters, the students of Grades 4 and 5 thronged the stage advocating the message, ‘Each One Teach One’. The little Presidians displayed scores of enthusiasm in awaking the masses for removing the social stigma of illiteracy.

Gupta ma’am has always given an extra edge to teachers through distinctive ceremonies that are aired to felicitate endowed educators. To acknowledge and appreciate the altruistic services of teachers, our Hon’ble Chairperson - Sudha Gupta ma’am proudly curated the event Chairperson Teacher’s Honour at Air Force Auditorium on 7th September 2019. The event was instrumental in charging up the educationalists of Presidium and acted as a note of gratitude to all of them. To applaud the teachers for their passion and commitment, she honoured them with special
trophies and certificates of recognition. A special cultural program during the event added superfluous allure thereby bringing the entire talent of Presidium staff under one roof.
STUDENTS & TEACHERS MAKE FOREVER MEMORIES ON TEACHER’S DAY
Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the school premises of Kalyan Vihar on September 5,
2019. The program was led off with a prayer song sung by the school choir, followed by traditional tilak welcome. Teachers offered flowers to the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Students peeked into the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan through a musical skit. This was followed by a speech by one of the faculty members who spoke about the significance of
Teacher’s Day. A beautiful poem highlighting the importance of a GURU (teacher) was also recited. It was followed by the cultural program which included a Bharatanatyam dance performance, a comedy skit presented by students. Games were also conducted for the teachers. The assembly came to an end with a beautiful song sung by students of Grades Nursery & Prep highlighting the relationship of a baby and mother and it was dedicated to teachers who are considered to be the second parents of students.
STUDENTS PRESENT STRONG IDEAS AT POSTER MAKING COMPETITION
In today’s world, a poster in itself speaks volumes. In its most basic form, though, a poster is a temporary promotion of an idea, product or an event put up in a public space for mass consumption. To bring out the creative expressions of the students and also to gauge their awareness quotient, an Inter Class Poster Making Competition was organized for students of Grades 4 and 5 at Presidium, Kalyan Vihar. The themes taken up for the Competition were Mobiles - Boon or Bane, Health Is Wealth, Road Safety, etc. The students displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters on the given topics. The aim of this competition was not merely to see the creative aspect but also to trigger the thought process of the children and sensitize them towards these burning and serious issues. It was overwhelming to see the level of creativity in the participants. The competition witnessed several strong ideas and messages to protect community, thereby fulfilling the objective of the competition.
PAYING TRIBUTE TO FAMOUS SPORTS PERSONS ON NATIONAL SPORTS DAY
It is an undeniable fact that sports are a crucial part of a student’s growth and development. Through participation in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality. National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August every year in India. It is the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand who is one of the most respected legendary figures in Indian and world hockey. To highlight the importance of this day, the students of Presidium, Kalyan Vihar conducted a special assembly with pride and enthusiasm. The assembly began with an Agility Drill which helped develop concentration, body control and acceleration in motion in students. Students were inspired by the brief biographies of famous Indian sports persons like Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Hima Das, Dhyan Chand, Vishwanathan Anand, presented in the assembly. The event concluded with students underlining the value of sports and fitness in instilling values like discipline, determination, team spirit and integrity.
MRS.SUDHA GUPTA ADDS SPARKLES TO PRESIDIUM’S JANMASHTAMI GALA
Sweeter than honey, tastier than curd, pleasurable indeed than any bliss and elation is the power in the name of Krishna. Janamashtami is the commemoration of the birth of Lord Krishna. To seek the blessings of one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu, Presidium Kalyan Vihar celebrated this auspicious occasion with extraordinary bond between children and the Almighty with glory and enthusiasm. A splendidly colourful program was well thought-out. Students of different classes donned the roles of Lord Sri Krishna and Gopikas amongst many other characters related to Janmashtami. The fragrance of flowers,
soothing aroma of camphor and the jingle of bells filled the air with ecstasy. Also, our children danced on the tunes of garba, enchanted religious songs to reflect the true and most innocent devotion for Krishna. The Chairperson of the school, Mrs. Sudha Gupta blessed all the students and highly praised the efforts put up by the team of students and teachers. She reminded the students about Lord Krishna’s devotion and obedience to his master and the teachers about the Glory of Mother’s Love. Her words truly summed up the efficacy of celebrating festivals with utmost allegiance and deference.
SPREADING AWARENESS ABOUT RENEWABLE ENERGY ON AKSHAY URJA DIWAS
Akshay Urja Diwas is an awareness campaign about the developments of renewable energy in India,celebrated on August 20 every year since 2004.
The advantage of renewable sources is the reduction of air,water pollution and optimal usage of naturally available resources with minimal side effects. It also prevents any damage to life and property through nuclear disasters.The main motive of ‘Akshay Urja Diwas’ is to make people aware that they have to think about renewable energy apart from traditional energy.
In order to sensitise the students about renewable resources of energy and various scientific innovations achieved in this field, we observed ‘Akshay Urja Diwas’. The assembly started with a prayer soulfully sung by the children.It was followed by the inspirational thought of the day and a speech on the significance of ‘Akshay Urja Diwas’.The students showcased different posters depicting various themes “Embracing Sustenances” and “Gaining from Sustaining”.
PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAPS! IT’S QUIZ TIME!
A quiz can function throughout a course as an informative feedback device allowing both the
teacher and the student to see where they are excelling or need more focus.The Story Tellers Academy of Presidium, Kalyan Vihar were a similar platform to the brainiacs of the school, to showcase their extraordinary knowledge through an Intra Class Quiz Competition. Students from Grade Nursery to Prep competed with their classmates to prove their acumen.They were asked to prepare on theme ‘Myself’ and ‘Animals’ to enable them to think out of the box with the mission to promote a healthy debate amongst participants. Students of Grade 1-3 also participated with great zeal and enthusiasm on the theme ‘Food’ and ‘Current Affairs’. The Quiz Competition was very interesting and informative for the students which provided excitement among the students and also made them aware of the current affairs which covered all the important events across India as well as world.
